Great Triathon Article

// July 22nd, 2009 // No Comments » // Events, Training, Triathon

This is a great article for anyone looking at doing their first Triathlon.   In my training for the XTERRA Off-road Triathlon on August 15th I started searching for a guide or site to help me out in my training.  I believe I found it with www.beginnertriathlete.com.  The site is a great resource for information, product reviews and stories.  Reading through the site I came to the conclusion of a few things.

1) I have no idea what I’m in for.

2) I may not be ready for this.

3) I’m not training enough or training right for my event

4) I do not have the right equipment to do this

5) I may die or get eaten by a fish or raccoon.

5) I believe I’m stubborn and dumb enough to push my body and mind through this, so I have a chance

With that in mind,  my training continues and if succeed in this the next step is a Ironman 70.3 in 2010.

Please check out the great story for a man documenting his first Ironman 70.3

Eight Things I Learned from My First Triathlon

Weekend Adventure Race

// July 20th, 2009 // No Comments » // Goals, Mountain Bike

Third adventure race of the year is complete and it was great.  Over the weekend myself and a few co-workers decided at taking on the  Cornhusker State Games adventure race at Platte River State Park.  The was short (2-4 hours) but very challenging.  All in all it ended up being around 4 miles of running, 4 miles of biking, 2 crazy team challenges, and a paddle boat adventure.

In a nutshell the day was great, the team did great and I’m feeling really good about how my running and biking are going.

Next step is the XTERRA Triathlon @ Branched Oak Lake and possibly the Wild Hares 12-hour Adventure Race … who can teach me how to swim!

Born to Ride

As I’m scanning image after image of my brother for his wedding video I see a theme… That theme is 2 wheels. We were born riding bikes, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and much more. Now I understand why I have so many hobbies that include toys that go fast. Thanks Mom and Dad!
